In case you’ve been ignoring the TV and red carpet slideshows all over the internet, it’s award season. And while we like movies, TV shows, music, and celebs dressed to the nines as much as the rest, we figured there’s got to be a way to bring pizza into the spotlight (you know, other than that time Ellen Degeneres ordered pies for all the stars in attendance). And so, we present to you the first-ever Home Run Inn Awards. The envelopes, please…
Best Dressed: Garlic Fireball Pizza
The competition for “best dressed”—our codeword for killer toppings—was fierce. But the garlic fireball came out on top. Just look at the sausage, jalapeno peppers, and giardiniera baked on top of a garlic butter crust. Breathtakingly beautiful, we must say.
Best Instagram: Classic Sausage and Pepperoni
Sometimes, you need to get back to the basics. Which is what we do every day when we cook up classic pizzas, like this sausage and pepperoni on top of our traditional thin crust. Here, it shows its ready for its close-up with our most-liked Instagram ever. DANGER: Don’t click on an empty stomach.
Best Supporting Role: Beer
Some things just go together, you know, like pizza and beer. But the pros say the type of brew you pair with your order can take your pizza to the next level. Going for classic cheese? Try a pale ale. Always order meat lovers? Pour yourself a dark, smoked beer that’ll hold its own against all that flavor. The beer-and-pizza combo works even if you ignore our pairing advice and resort to whatever’s stocked in your fridge.
Most Inventive Order: Bacon Cheeseburger Pizza
We’re believers that there’s no such thing as too much of a good thing, so we spent some time in the kitchen blending two of our favorite foods to perfection. And… drum roll… We ended up with the bacon cheeseburger pizza, a masterpiece of bacon, ground beef, onions, and pickles on top of our signature hand-made crust. Oh, and then we topped it off with mozzarella and cheddar, just like any good burger would. An instant hit.
Best Use of Accessories: The Pizza Bow Tie (Duh.)
Take note, A-list actors. We expect to see some of these on the red carpet come Oscar night.
